COACHING

“The more clearly you understand yourself and your emotions, the more you become a lover what is.”

Baruch Spinoza

Origin

The first use of the term "coach" in connection with an instructor or trainer arose around 1830 in Oxford University slang for a tutor who "carried" a student through an exam. The word "coaching" thus identified a process used to transport people from where they are to where they want to be. The first use of the term in relation to sports came in 1861.

Business and executive

Business coaching is a type of human resource development for business leaders. It provides positive support, feedback and advice on an individual or group basis to improve personal effectiveness in the business setting. Coaches help their clients advance towards specific professional goals. These include career transition, interpersonal and professional communication, performance management, organisational effectiveness, managing career and personal changes, developing executive presence, enhancing strategic thinking, dealing effectively with conflict, and building an effective team within an organisation. Research studies suggest that executive coaching has a positive impact on workplace performance. as consultants, a broader business relationship than one which exclusively involves coaching.

Coaching uses a range of communication skills - listening, questioning, clarifying etc. - to help clients shift their perspectives and thereby discover different approaches to achieve their goals - the transition into a new role and to improve his/her skills and talents.

• Existential fears - why we have them and ways to overcome fear.

• Firmly rooting ourselves in this world and being the master of our own life.

• Forming our own lives.

• Living consciously in the Here and Now.

• Setting limits to protect ourselves.

Only by being firmly rooted in the present can we really live the life we have always dreamed of, or master difficult situations. This method of formation teaches people to become anchored within their own lives, to create their individual space and learn to protect this. Only if delineate our individual space and learn to protect it will we be able to live in harmony with the world around us.

My story

I was born and raised as a little girl in Antwerp. I always looked up to my parents and older brothers, always eager to see what they did and to do the learn and explore. I had no barriers to the outside world and absorbed energies like a sponge felt free to do what pleased me, could not get enough of energy and different views, input, curiosity was certainly a huge drive. At the age when a girl becomes a woman I got severe rheumatism for 2 years. I had it in my shoulders, hip and knee’s. The consequence was 3 times a week at the doctors, hospitals … max. doses of painkillers (for adults) and still extraordinary pain. At a certain point could not walk anymore for 3 days not knowing if I would ever walk again. It went as it came suddenly without explanation. I suppose my fearsome strength, courage helped me to get out of that situation and the support of my family, being there and living day in day out a situation of pain & fear. School, University, my first work experience, marriage, living abroad for 10 years (Germany, Saudi-Arabia & Sweden), two wonderful boys, building houses … working again, a life full of excitement, energy flow, always more … got me into a Burnout

BURN-OUT

The term “burnout” was coined in the 1970s by the American psychologist Herbert Freudenberger. He used it to describe the consequences of severe stress and high ideals in “helping” professions. Doctors and nurses, for example, who sacrifice themselves for others, would often end up being “burned out” – exhausted, listless, and unable to cope. Nowadays, the term is not only used for these helping professions, or for the dark side of self-sacrifice. It seems it can affect anyone, from stressed-out careerists and celebrities to overworked employees and homemakers.

As a mother, wife to a manager, working, fully integrated into society, activities at school and being a high sensitive person (HSP) I was literally burned-out.

It has been a cry from inside of help.

I divorced from my husband and restarted a new life, raised the 2 boys, worked and worked on myself and my self-development.

My first coach was an older woman Rose-Marie, spiritual guide, who first thought me “to calm down” and then step by step asked about what I wanted to change. We worked for 1 year together when I realised that I am in a burn-out and In need of medical support too. A solicited a fabulous doctor specialised in vitamin and hormone. She looked at me from head to tow, looked at the elasticity of my skin, my nails … The blood test told us that all my values where under the minimum and sometimes even at a dangerous health-level. She has done a tremendous work of getting me from where I have been to today, with a lot of care, understanding, explaining and listening what I was ready to do and what I did not want. I continued my coaching by getting to go to different school and understanding what coaching is about and learning tools of how to develop people and to stay centered.

Today finally I have come a long way and there was still something not tackled which did not allow me to fully live my life.

This is where I met my coach Elena, who is a HSP coach and with whom I worked on one big barrier that was holding men back from being who I really am. First understanding who I am as a HSP really and what are my strength and fall backs. To be able to set boundaries, focus not only for a short time or by others. That my emotions stay stable and not overwhelm me. The barrier of fear, fear to be alone, fear of not being loved, fear of not succeeding, fear of just being someone and I can go on and on. This barrier is today away and gives the possibility to think in unlimited possibilities. I was able to do this enormous work of personal development, thanks to the support of my loving parents, family, the unconditional love of my boy’s, friends, coaches and the biggest chance of having wonderful clients that constantly drive me to excel. I have had the chance to meet along my path many beautiful people who supported and encouraged me. That to me is the most grateful gift on my life path. Today I am grateful for the life that I live and constantly working, transforming and creating my life.

A life of abundance and unconditional love.
